Is the “SoftwareCentral” Overlay the best thing that ever happened to SCCM?
Well. I tend to be biased. We use SoftwareCentral and we love it!
(I’m sure there’s other great overlays out there of cause.)
In a smaller organisation with a few dedicated people acually running the deployments, building the packages etc. SoftwareCentral is completely overkill. But so is SCCM!
SoftwareCentral IS time consuming to set up and integrate, it takes time to get into, it also has it’s weaknesses. BUT!
In a big and geographically wide-spread installation it’s also fantastic. After ONE hours introduction, and support of a quite short userguide, the supporters will without any prior SCCM knowledge be able to install/reinstall computers, install/remove applications etc. See more at http://www.softwarecentral.com/?contentid=3149
The SoftwareCentral staff will perform the initial SoftwareCentral installation on your SCCM (or set up the whole shabang, including SCCM, SQL etc, for you! – provided you have gold enough 😉 )
